Yes, it was very theatrical. But I have to say, it was one of the better possession movies, perhaps because it has a basis in actual events. The visual manifestations of the spirit may have been over the top(although I guess anything's possible), yet it seemed more plausible and actually made sense as a working story rather than being a random mis-mash of ridiculous events as many of these types of movies turn out to be.
