Review of The Possession (2012) by Sami S — 19 Jul 2013
"Based on a true story" my arse. This movie recycles the overused True Story term and comes out even more disappointing and completely detached from the real story. It's predictable and all too cliche, with most of the most solid, legit scares featured in the trailer and spoiling the rest of the movie.
The pretty spectacular special effects and bland but definitely present creepiness will provide a few good jump scares, and the climatic hospital scenes are pretty spooky if you haven't seen them before in the millions of other scary movies where the same lame tricks to get screams from the audiences are used.
It's a fun watch if you're in the mood to get a little creeped out, but it's not hardcore horror and its not a light, fluffy movie.
