Review of The Poseidon Adventure (1972) by Cameron L — 14 May 2010
Within minutes of the boat capsizing most of the women are stripped down to midriff tops and hot pants - mercifully Shelley Winters isn't one of them. This was the first of a spate of 70s disaster movies and still one of the best, I love all the corny and predictable little scenarios designed to manipulate our emotions and the clever cohort of survivors designed to appeal to the widest range of audience demographic.
There are some out there aspects to the film, Ernest Borgnine plays a Detective married to a former hooker whom he used to arrest "I had to think of some way to keep you off the streets until you would marry me.
" The relationship between the teenage girl and the two fisted preacher looks a bit suss in retrospect.
