Review of The Polar Express (2004) by Brian S — 25 Aug 2012
An oddly depersonalized movie that doesn't even give a name to its main character. For a movie based on a book that's all about the whimsical magic that children experience at Christmastime, there's not a whole lot of warmth.
It doesn't help that most of the lead characters are loudmouthed, impulsive and all-around unlikable. But it at least manages to expand upon some of the messages of the book and even add new ones, and it had some pretty creative ideas.
I last watched this movie in 2006 and I'm not interested in watching it again, so my review probably isn't the most accurate in the world. (I have a really good memory, though.).
