Review of The Polar Express (2004) by Jon C — 24 Dec 2012
For 2004:
Based on the best-selling book by Chris Van Allsburg Robert Zemeckis brings this story about a magical train engine to life.
The kid's will really love the visuals, the snow and the Christmas spirit it rings.
The film however short the actual book was feels padded in a lot of areas and gets a tad tedious.
Thankfully the movie isn't a complete disaster in my opinion.
It deals with a dillema of testing someone's faith in old Saint Nicholas throughout the whole movie even if it does get a little manipualtive at certain points.
Like you won't have a good X-Mas if you don't believe in Santa Clause or the meaning of the holiday.
The computer rendering for the human characters really need more work because they look like creepy manechins but the rest of the film is so dazzling to look at.
It's an enchanting film about seeing the other side of X-Mas that's very dreamlike and magical.
