Review of The Polar Express (2004) by Sean D — 19 Jan 2016
Why didn't this film get a certified fresh, oh darn. It's so awesome. This film isn't justified unless you're watching in minimum 720p, even Comcast loves this movie, giving it 3 out of 4 stars. But it's extremely high on the rotten scale. I don't know, this movie was amazing. Let's not get started on the visuals, this film is about coming up to 13 years old at this point, and the visuals are just top notch and can't be beaten. This film is enthralling.
The film name is rightfully so as this is an extreme Christmas film but half of the plot involves the craziness on the train, this is by no means your typical Xmas film, if you're expecting a perfect Christmas story and everything to match and already reconned tale on the real person as it is, you'll be in for a disappointment.
But we will get one thing very clear, most of what you think or know occurs, just certain things are even more retconned in this version. I've never been a huge fan of 3D or CGI type films, but this one is completely top notch. This is a different scale of CGI, u guess it's what can be referred to as realistic CGI. Tom Hanks basically looks like Tom Hanks, sort of. You would understand what I mean if you saw the film.
He also sounds like he plays 3 different people and I didn't check yet. There are personal struggles in this film and it doesn't come off or play like a typical young child's film, despite the rating of TV-Y given by Sprout, where I viewed it. I feel that this film is heavily underrated, but I easily think that this is a must own!
