Review of The Polar Express (2004) by Russell Q — 09 Jan 2015
A strange, stunning, composed, tightly knit masterpiece of beautiful art, organic behavior, strange trains, swampers, politeness, ceremonial masterpieces, brilliant music, dry wit, kids who are mature like adults, brilliance and gentle kindness, some very moving and polite songs, all-in-all a wild ride of crazy gentleness, polite and gentle behavior by the kids, a genius of a movie with some very smart and kind behavior by Tom Hanks - he reminds me of someone I know and he is so polite, I just find him very smart and gentle and kind, he doesn't hurt people, he does a good job - and he never really loses his mind or becomes chaotic, he doesn't allow himself, in this beautiful role, to lose it or even start.
It's a beautiful thing to see on screen, the kids all getting into these political situations with lots of stunning animation, beautiful train sequences, music setting the mood with some very friendly kids and stunning plot twists with some gorgeous and very moving songs - the kids are so correct in this I just find it touching, you can have this movie on when you are cleaning or writing, and it will always capture your heart - because there is so much grandiose beauty in the maturity of these kids, I find them heartening, with their brilliant behavior and sense of music, without any dark, demented actions, or even any ticks, again - it's wonderful to see, because the animated sets are very stunning, shifty, dark, moody and it's just a fun movie with a ton of heart, and it was another stunner to watch on rainy day.
It really was much like Harry Potter or Transformers. Just another popcorn/kids movie for the kind-hearted overstimulated schoolkid in all of our childish and sheltered, wonderful souls!!
