Review of The Pledge (2001) by Ifty Z — 29 Dec 2007
An interestingly different take to the usual relentless-cop-following-a-hunch- against-all-odds type of movie. In the end though, I felt like the director wanted to have his cake and eat it too. Was Jerry Black really on to something, or was he driven over the edge by his obsession?
The movie has some great performances and the tension slowly boils to a high pitch by the end of the movie, but ultimately one feels it doesn't quite manage to hit all the notes it is aiming for. Still, an interesting attempt.
