Absolutely effective! Jack Nicholson does it again. Sean Penn throws a bold subject at the audience, and creates a disturbing and interesting mood throughout the whole movie. The thing that I always love in movies is its ability to move, in a way where you can't stop thinking about for days.
And in "The Pledge", that's exactly what you get.
