Review of The Player (1992) by Cade L — 11 Oct 2008
Moved a little slow at first, but that's to be expected in dialogue driven films. It was a funny look into Hollywood workings, showing how assholes succeed and what not, but not with a bitter tone.
I really enjoyed all the long takes and voyuer like camera. The story was interesting and smart, with a very good ending. Alot of the dialogue was improv (which you can really tell at some points), and all the acting was great.
I also hugely enjoyed the 5 million big star cameos. A very good look into the workings of Hollywood, but not quite as successful as Sunset Blvd was for it's time. Still, extremely good.
