Review of The Player (1992) by Nick A — 30 Sep 2011
There's only one film I can think of off the top of my head that surely made everyone in or interested in the movie business -- be it writers who hate or love studios big or small, studio suits and their subsidiaries who revel in the relative secrecy of the "insider" nature of the business, or movie-huggers or cynical critics -- grin.
That movie is this movie -- one about a man whose life it is to judge the quality of a screenplay as a prospect of gold; one whose own screenplay is worth more than gold; one whose own screenplay is perhaps the best ever written for film.
