Review of The Plague Dogs (1982) by Christopher S — 29 Aug 2007
I can't explain how traumatic and harrowing I find the plague dogs. I remember seeing it when I was but a nipper and it has had a profound influence on me. One of those films where the end is a bit ambiguous, I'm not sure if I can decide what happens to them.
The yorkshire scenery is beautifully rendered and adds a depth of mood to the film it wouldn't have if it were set anywhere or anywhen else. I can't seperate this film in my mind from my favourite band skinny puppy since they use samples from the plague dogs in one of their best songs and are forthright in their attitude towards vivisection.
