Review of The Place Beyond the Pines (2013) by Joshua J — 18 May 2014
Few films reach such lofty emotional heights and pack as strong of a punch as 'The Place Beyond the Pines'. As the final scene comes to an end, you'll feel like you've just been kicked in the face by a body builder.
The 'sins of the father' story has never before felt so prevalent and fleshed out. Gosling, as the world-weary father in question, evokes such heart wrenching emotion that even in his wildest, most reckless moments he still garners immense amounts of sympathy from the audience.
A masterfully crafted drama that, with all hope, will get even more credit than it currently has and will be watched for years to come.
