Review of The Place Beyond the Pines (2013) by James S — 13 Dec 2014
I am surprised this wasn't slightly more publicised considering its starry eyed cast, and despite my opinion changing throughout, it turned out to be an enjoyable watch. After a sluggish start, it soon improves due to the films primary turning point.
The cast performs well (putting one Cooper moment aside!), although I would have still liked certain events to be prolonged and dramatised better. Certain elements were not explored particularly well, a prime example being Luke's supposed motorcycle ability.
Whilst the story becomes slightly predictable during the latter half, I particularly enjoyed the role reversal element, and the tension that developed.
