Review of The Pixar Story (2007) by Jaeyoung L — 15 May 2011
I've viewed Pixar from a distance, largely through the eyes of the media, trumpeting its success. The inside story is far more compelling and dramatic. Despite Pixar's eventual mind blowing success, we are treated to the inside story, when money was tight and the only thing keeping the company going was the passion and commitment of those involved.
In particular, we are treated to the vision and belief of John Lasseter, the man who intuitively understood the potential of computer animation way before he directed films like "Toy Story," "A Bug's Life," "Toy Story 2," and "Cars.
" As Pixar took off, so Disney animation was falling apart. This documentary skillfully explains the way in which Disney's money and distribution network meshed with the creativity, culture, and passion of Pixar.
The production values are top shelf and the story is expertly told.
