Review of The Pit and the Pendulum (1991) by Dan Z — 01 Aug 2012
While completely different from the classic Vincent Price version of the Pit and the Pendulum, the talented Stuart Gordon, b-movie artist, once again takes on the challenge of reinventing the story and once again deliverers.
while armed with a stellar cast for his villains as well as a clever mix of three Poe tales in one, the film does not fall prey to the usual traps of continuity or blandness often expected in Roger Corman films.
The film deals more into the drama of the Inquisition, it is still immersive enough, and Jeffrey Comes as usually delivers as well. this is probably my favor Stuart Gordon film.
