Review of The Pit and the Pendulum (1991) by Patrick L — 05 Aug 2012
This film is based during the era of the Inquisition (Spanish Inquisition?) when church power was ruthlessly used to accuse and destroy people, there is a fair amount of violence and there is nudity, this film might be considered sexist, sexual and degrading.
Essentially, a man and his wife are wrongly targeted during a public execution and imprisoned so that they might be tortured to obtain confessions (of being a witch etc.). The inquisitor is a power mad, ruthless and very immoral person, perhaps driven by a delusion of serving God.
5/10.
