Aardman's latest animated entry is rather mixed booty -- sadly it is one that doesn't match the lustre of the previous entries in the studio's treasure trove. "Pirates!" does have its share of witty moments that even adults can appreciate amongst the otherwise childish screwball comedy fare, and the movie sports the most gorgeous and lovingly crafted animation Aardman has put out yet.

That being said, "Pirates!" is largely a series of hit-and-miss gags wrapped up in a predictable plot, topped off with flat characters and largely unmemorable dialogue.
