Review of The Pirate (1948) by Ron N — 10 Jul 2011
You can be a massive fan of Gene Kelly (like I am) and still see this musical as just entertaining but not much more because parts of it are clunky and feel thrown in. The best song "Be A Clown" has nothing to do with Pirates, but hey it's a great tune.
Judy Garland gets to tear up the scenery. I look at this movie as The-Great-Gene-Kelly-In-Training.
