MGM's Vincente Minnelli-directed Technicolor farce was a notorious flop in its day, but there is much to be appreciated; Judy Garland and Gene Kelly do well by the witty script and Cole Porter songs including "Be a Clown," which is also given a wonderful dance sequence featuring Kelly and the Nicholas Brothers.
