Review of The Pink Panther (2006) by Mark P — 01 May 2009
The original Pink Panther films were hilarious classics, and the Steve Martin remake is crap. It is unfunny, uninteresting, poorly written and acted CRAP. It's painful to see all this good talent go to waste.
Steve Martin's Inspector Clouseau is a bumbling but well-intentioned idiot, but it is impossible to care for such a character when the movie goes completely overboard with his buffoonish idiocy. Kevin Cline is just plain boring, and Jean Reno almost seems ashamed to be caught in this tragically unfunny comedy.
The humor itself is surprisingly childish and stupid, relying on cheap sight and physical gags, almost all of which feel incessantly forced.
