Review of The Pillow Book (1995) by Tristan G — 21 Apr 2009
Simply stunning. I can't figure out what the film is trying to say, nor do I care. The film is so beautiful and amazing that it doesn't even matter. One of the most haunting films ever. It's about a woman played by Viviam Woo who has words written on her body who joins up with a young bisexual language translator played by Ewan McGregor who can't quite satisfy her with his writings.
She discovers that his lover was once her father's publisher and total chaos ensures. See it and be amazing. Warning: the ending of the film is very violent and nasty to watch.
