An arthouse film, which not everyone will enjoy, noone can deny the powerful performances from Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel and Sam Neill. It's beautifully photographed and meticulously directed, and while a little overlong, a classic period drama.
Very close to being a masterpiece.
