Review of The Pianist (2002) by Michael S — 04 May 2011
The Pianist is a masterpiece; beautiful and poignant, it has a quiet grace and subtlety that even Schindler's List didn't achieve. Adrian Brody brings his own quiet charm and grace and gives a brilliant performance, showing us first hand the horror's that were suffered by the Jewish people in the Warsaw Ghetto, the moral quandaries (the polish resistance, German lady in the flat, German officer) and just what it takes to survive.
Polanski paints an amazing picture of WWII Warsaw and the editing and music are top notch. Definitely one of the top five Polanski films.
