Review of The Pianist (2002) by Ryan G — 18 Jun 2011
Sure it does not surpass Schindler's List but The Pianist is still an intense emotional adventure that is far from perfect. While Adrien Brody is absolutely perfect for the role it seems like it was the role that he was born to play, he does however give without a doubt the best performance of his career.
It's really the directing from Roman Polanski that makes the movie great, the whole thing feels so personal and I did not know why until recently when I learned of his history, putting aside what he did, I would never want anyone to go through that, he puts that experience into the movie or at least that's what it felt like to me.
This is his best movie, I will admit that this is only the second of his that I have seen but many consider this to be his finest achievement and from what I have seen I do not disagree.
