Review of The Pianist (2002) by Brandon A — 13 Apr 2014
The ideal film to show your kids when they complain about how bad their life is. The truly tragic factor about this film, apart from a pair of Nazis tossing an old man from his wheelchair over a five-story balcony, is that there is absolutely no redemption for Brody's character.
Sure, Poland ends up fighting back the Nazis, but Brody is not allowed vengeance for the loss of his loved ones, some of the many killed in Auschwitz. Intense, tragic and insanely well-crafted.
