Review of The Philadelphia Story (1940) by Danny C — 11 Mar 2008
I love old cheezy love stories like this, and of course with a power house lineup like Katharine Hepburn, james Stewart and cary grant. good ole jimmy Stewart pretty much plays a better drunk (and hilarious drunk) than most.
it is also well written with tons of hilarious machine gun dialog's. I am definetly a jimmy Stewart fan and thus I think it is some what funny that this is what he won his Oscar for when he had much better performances in "mr.
smith goes to Washington" and "Harvey" but to each his own I guess. in any case this is a romantic comedy for the ages that is to never be overlooked and furthermore would love to see where it originally came from some day.
..the stage.
