Review of The Philadelphia Story (1940) by Abby S — 30 Mar 2008
Long a favorite of mine... It had been nearly four or five years since I watched it last and this time it struck me how messed up it is that Tracy ends up with Dexter. The guy was a drunkard and beat Tracy and, in the end, it's all condoned because Tracy is an unruly woman. Still, that notion was undoubtedly a product of its time, so is it the movie's fault? No.
I just love that drinking scene between Stewart and Grant.
