Review of The Philadelphia Story (1940) by Rahul O — 27 Jun 2008
AGHAST I was, by the way 'Philadelphia Story' ended for all those romantic and passionate lines by Jimmy Stewart to Hepburn telling her how she was a woman as a woman should be and not a woman made of 'Bronze' meant nothing.
The only moment I actually seemed to enjoy this movie was when Jimmy and Hepburn got drunk and shared those sparkling dialogs. And in the end Hepburn when confronted with the decision to choose between her past, present and new love chose the past. And our good old Jimmy -- who just having his proposal turned down by Hepburn finds this love for assistant LIZ whom he has ignored all along. DUH! What sort of a woman would actually take back a man, whom she knows is attracted to someone else?
I really want to rip apart this nonsensical 'CLASSIC' but would refrain from doing so because of my sheer respect and admiration of the legendary actors who were a part of this. HOLY MACKEREL what a waste of a brilliant starcast.
