Review of The Philadelphia Story (1940) by Mauricio S — 13 Sep 2008
I was left wanting more, given the star studded cast. Hepburn is wonderful as the icy "goddess" that loses her self-assuredness in the presence of a handsome poet. Grant's performance however was lacklustre and Stewart awkward.
It seems to me that Cukor did not provide single, guiding vision and permitted his cast to run loose. Certainly watch again though... to give a more informed opinion.
