Review of The Philadelphia Story (1940) by Kurtis E — 19 Mar 2010
A classy, sophisticated and charming romantic comedy that is still effective seventy years on. It is one film, that I struggled to find one single flaw with, being so perfect you almost want there to be a fault or flaw in this historic picture.
Hepburn, Grant and Stewart are all such talented and capable actors, and with such a great script, it really enhances the trio's talents.
Too enjoy the picture, you have to dismiss a lot of the sensitivity of the present day and take the film for the way and era it was made in. Jokes can be taken as "sexist" but you have to look beyond that and into the humour of the 40's.
The film is very entertaining and recommended to anyone who loves romance, comedy or film.
