Review of The Phantom of the Opera (2004) by Jacob A — 29 Jul 2012
This was the movie that actually catapaulted me into the theatre arts. I never seen the Original that had Micheal Crawford but I long to see it's original form.
I was easily suaved by it's spell of awe and mystery being one who hasn't been around musical theatre arts.. The cast is almost perfect, Emmy Rossum for Christine is probably the best casting to for me to date, her place in the role was flawless, she really looked like an angel, and her singing was hauntingly amazing!
The set and style was also appealing.
My only nitpick is the choice for the Phantom, Gerard Butler, his voice did go on and off key. His masculine physique I believe was intneded to hide that flaw. But regardless.
