Review of The Pervert's Guide to Cinema (2006) by Wanchi S — 17 Feb 2013
It's an efficient yet unusual documentary relying on a dense stack of interpretations of various movies put forth by psychoanalyst and philosopher Slavov Zizek. Most of them are thought-provoking, althouh a few seem either far-fetched or forced.
The documentary may be highly interesting for viewers who have a basic understanding and general interest in both cinematic theory and deep psychology. Even so, such viewers may want to watch the documentary at least twice to fully grasp Zizek's frame of reference.
