Review of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) by Cory D — 30 Mar 2014
A lot of it is derivative from other teen movies, but at the same time, other teen movies do it because the formula works. The first 20 minutes or so were painful to sit through because the dialog was so clumsy and nothing really interesting happened.
But as the rest of the movie gets rolling, it sucks you in. They nailed the important part. Charlie was very relatable, and I was genuinely interested in his character. Emma Watson was kinda just there, and very vanilla, which surprised me.
But anyway, decent movie all around, just nothing outstanding.
