Review of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) by Mark D — 12 Jun 2014
This was one of my favorite books growing up and still is. I still read it once a year. When I heard there was a movie coming out I was excited and nervous. Was this movie going to do justice for the book I know so well and have been reading for the past 10+ years?
It did. It was one of the most honest and true to the story films I've ever seen. It captured the book in ways that only those that have read it can comprehend.
I refer not only to capturing the story but the emotion. It captured the emotion and life of the book so magnificently. It made me feel as I did the first time I read it. It made me think back to what was going on in my life the first time I cracked open the pages of this genius work of art.
The performances were spot on and cinematography was beautiful. The direction was perfect. I'm sure I could pick it apart if I were to view it again from a perspective looking for faults but there is no need to.
