OK, ok. sometimes we'll coat-tail along with our family and friends for millions of different reasons. Sometimes for kicks, sometimes for the sake of feeling something at all. Logan Lerman, our hero of the film takes us by the wrists and shows us without fear, into the heart and soul of someone who is truly damaged, and discovering it's indifference doesn't have to be terrifying. It's the not knowing that's killing him.

He's a brand spankin' new freshman through the high school doors and is suddenly befriended by the un-friendable, Sam and her step brother Patrick, an enigmatic yet enthusiastic Emma Watson, Ezra Miller duo. They welcome and curse him with beauty and love, both are issues he knows nothing about.

I know what you're thinking, dude, this is like every frickin' teen flick. Oh, he's broken, the girl he's crushing is broken as well, what do ya think is gonna happen??! We know damn well where it's going. NO YOU DON'T!

I thought I did too, I can't have been more wrong. Halfway through the film (SPOILER ALERT) in a difficult scene to shoot in a cafeteria (where most directors would be tempted to vomit melodrama into your face) where his friends are attacked, we're told very blunt-mannered that this is not your elementary entry-level teeny bopper BS. Watson steps out of Hermione's shoes, and Miller mists through the darkness of the -"Talk About Kevin" cloud and reveals bones and scars with such ease, he should write books on the troubled gays in high school, and the same goes for Granger, err, Sam.

All I can say abut this film is wow wow wow. The best compliment I can offer is I haven't thoroughly enjoyed a movie this much since Juno. Tender characters are so rare, I haven't seen this much grace since the characters of "Lucas". Please don't skip this one.
