Review of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) by Amanda N — 21 Dec 2013
Best 2012 movie I've watched so far. Maybe it is the complexity of its characters, especially Charlie. Maybe it is the performance of Emma Watson that leads you to admire her attitude even more than Charlie himself.
Maybe it is how the story involves you, and how the first-person narrative by Charlie develops an intimate relationship between you and him. Maybe it is the fact that the movie ignores all the cliches about high school, and it gives you a different (and more realistic) perspective about surviving high school.
Or maybe, it is the beautiful relationship between Charlie and Sam. Definitely, it is a mixed of all of that and even more. The story wasn't clear about his aunt, they could do more with that because the book explain it better.
But that doesn't take out even a nanometer of my five stars.
