Review of The Perfection (2018) by Meritcoba — 25 May 2019

I find myself smiling as I seem to end up at the other end of general opinion.. maybe it is me. Perhaps I like a movie where two girls exact out a weird from of revenge that is as unsettling as it is gruesome. A gruesome beauty in which an abusive man gets punished.

I honestly liked the movie. I can see that it wouldn't be very popular as it is just too offbeat and gruesome in parts. But not the kind of gruesome that would amuse people who are attracted to that sort of thing. It is part of the story rather than the thing in itself as in a horror movie. The movie toys with the storyline and it has some twists that are a bit far reaching. Some of the story gets explained. Perhaps the movie can do better without the explaining. I liked the acting and the way the movie starts so innocently and then slowly turns into something darker as the layers of the story are peeled away to show another story underneath.
