Your fairly typical teen comedy - except it had a number of oddly profound one-liners. It's like they took a concept, turned it into a teen comedy, and instead of putting all its eggs into one basket by centering the film around one supreme moment when we're supposed to "get it," chooses rather to sprinkle little nuggets of wisdom here and there.
I don't know why so many people have a problem with it. There's no reason to expect that it would be anything other than what it is.
