Review of The Perfect Host (2010) by Paul V — 13 Oct 2011
David Hyde Pierce is brilliantly entertaining the zany and delusional party host Warwick Wilson. He out preforms everyone else in the film ten fold. After David Hyde Pierce this film has little to offer.
From stale dialogue to a horrible dragged out twist that brings down the whole third act. They use flashbacks and a b story; about some investigators who are investigating John Taylor (criminal and dinner guest) to help break up the party scenes and help out pacing.
But the party scenes are so interesting and entertaining, why would you want to cut away. Ultimately, the party scenes are the true gusto of this film and would have made for the most entertaining torture porn ever, dance number included.
Just remember the fun fizzles out in the end.
