Review of The Perfect Host (2010) by Brian S — 13 Jul 2012
David Hyde Pierce is cast brilliantly in this twist-laden psycho horror and it's an entertaining enough flick. Don't think about it too much, though, or you'll quickly realize that the whole plot ultimately makes no sense at all.
Too bad that the whole movie winds up based on an event that makes no sense at all in the context of the movie, because it's quirky and unusual in many ways. The set-up necessitates too many plot devices to create a solid film, though.
Nevertheless, seeing foppish Pierce dancing a bump-and-grind on a coffee table with backup dancers composed entirely of figments of his imagination makes it all worthwhile. Fun fluff that turns out a near miss.
The Perfect Host is deeply flawed but worth a watch for the novelty alone.
