"The Perfect Guy" stars Michael Ealy as a seemingly innocuous, charming guy who snaps when a man at a gas station approaches he and his girlfriend's car. Ealy comes to reveal his true nature as an obsessive, sociopathic charmer who becomes obsessed with his ex-girlfriend.

I have been advised not to spoil plot lines in my reviews, so I will just liken this film to Fatal Attraction. Sometimes we think we know someone on a superficial level, but until we become really involved with them, we can't say we really know them at all.

It's nice to see Ealy in a villainous role. He always plays the same pretty boy roles, and I thought this film actually showed his depth as an actor. While some plot elements are predictable, I thought this film showed conviction and was believably suspenseful.

This is an escalating type of movie; things get gradually worse as the movie progresses, and the director captures the angst nicely. Though the approach is a bit formulaic for stalker films, I found the film edgy and gripping ------------------------------------------------------------------------ B.
