Review of The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996) by Jennifer W — 09 Apr 2008
Milos Forman is a brilliant storyteller, and when matched with the right subjects, his films completely draw the viewer in. As is the case with this biographical story of Hustler founder Larry Flynt. Brilliantly portrayed by the never better Harrelson, Flynt is detestible but charming.
The film delves deeper than the man; searching into themes of freedom of speech, morals, pornography and the hypocracy of the legal system. Special mention to Edward Norton too for a fantastic and understated performance as Flynt's long suffering lawyer.
