Review of The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996) by Kate B — 03 Mar 2008
A Beautifully made films repleate with lies about Flynt. For a mysogonistic violent child molester, he got a good run, no?
For a film about the free speach advocate, Oliver stone did a wonderful job. Despite the real larry flynt being hiddeously ugly and unable to talk properly, Woody's character is inspiriting. And Stone took this hook, line and sinker. Where are the racist, sexist, paedophelic images from Hussler in this film? Yeah, I thought not. Must have forgotten about including them.
If women saw half what was in Hussler, they'd hate him.
What is it that people see in Larry Flynt? Do they feel empathy for such a low-life wanting to make porn and sell it in Newsagencies? Is that he can't talk? Is it that he's been sued?
Larry molestered his own daughters, and beat his own wives. He had 5 wives throughout the supposed duration of the film. Not one. And he never made that supposed turning point.
If CHarlie Wilsons War is soft, then this film is a feather-touch in comparason.
