The People under the stairs was almost a great movie. All the elements were there, it was just poorly executed. I'm not much of a Craven fan so normally I would laugh at the thought of giving one of his movies (that I haven't already seen) a chance, especially one that was made in 1991 but when my wife had seen the cover on Netflix and said it was one of here fav's from when she was young, I thought I would give it a chance.
Bad acting, bad make-up and a poorly written script were just a few of my complaints but overall the movie felt good. People in the ghetto in 1991 are not that nice though, just saying. Some hardcore horror fans might not be satisfied with this one, I wasn't.
There is cheap gore and scare tactics which I would usually like but nothing to inventive. They should remake it nowadays. I give it a 3/5 and say, its worth watching...once.
