Review of The Peanuts Movie (2015) by Dustin P — 16 Oct 2016
It does a great job of keeping the same charm and humor of the past Peanuts comic strips & holiday specials. A lot of remakes/reboots like this would change the style and have them dancing to a current pop artist's song, which could not only make their hardcore fans groan, but will likely make the scene stale and dated within a few years.
The Peanuts Movie resists those types of silly tropes and sticks with what brought them to the dance. It's the usual themes of past Peanuts work with Charlie Brown having problems, Lucy being a little over dramatic, Sally being in love with her "sweet baboo" Linus, etc.
They also continued to use the music of Vince Guaraldi, which is terrific since it wouldn't have felt the same without it. If you are a fan, you will love this film. Even if you're not really into the Peanuts, you will probably enjoy it.
It's a good movie for kids AND adults (even if you sound like a horn when you talk to kids).
