Review of The Peanuts Movie (2015) by Don A — 19 Apr 2016
This is a highly recommended movie for the family to watch.
As a child, I never really appreciated Snoopy, Charlie and Lucy. However, in today's hyper Politically Correct cinema where female characters are infallable and male characters are either all stupid or evil, it's nice to hark back to a time where characters are actually like the real world. Peanuts is that movie.
Charlie is a boy who doubts himself. Lucy is a confident young woman who is quite nasty to Charlie (as kids can be with each other). Thankfully, this rendition does not PC the characters - Lucy is not a ninja warrior with an IQ of 150.
The story has some warm and memorable scenes for all of the characters. The new girl that everyone wants to know. and the jealousy and embarrassement that comes with the new girl. The conflict and comradery between the kids is innocent and sincere. The gender balance between the kids is rare and really great to see, almost unprecedented in today's movies.
If you've looking for a good night with the family, this is definitely a great movie to watch. Feelgood and free of Politically Correctness - a win/win!
