Review of The Peacemaker (1997) by Daniel K — 31 Aug 2011
2: Wow, D-Box really makes having a nuclear blast coming towards you on screen a helluva lot more exciting. It made me want to watch pictures like Indiana Jones 4 and The Sum of All Fears. The subject matter of the picture makes it seem pretty dated though: Russia's lost decade, which we were actually discussing at work today.
The film seems woefully dated, given that one wouldn't typically imagine terrorists as Russians or Serbs nowadays. Also, the relationship between Kidman and Clooney and her relative fragility seems a bit dated as well.
Women often seem to be given much stronger roles in today's action films. It is solid entertainment, but it doesn't get one of the edge of their seat, nor are we terribly invested in the characters by the end.
