This is a great film to watch if you're American and are feeling patriotic. If anything because it is an extremely good looking film, emotionally manipulative, but what isn't in Hollywood? Very formulaic hero's journey but hey what the hell? It managed to throw a few unexpected moments in there, well.. sort of...
Not a huge Mel Gibson fan and it's rather inaccurate historically speaking (find me a Mel Gibson film that isn't) but a good 4th of July, hurray for fireworks and Heath Ledger film none the less. It manages to be heartwarming and super sad at times as well.
