Review of The Patriot (2000) by Jon B — 13 Aug 2011
Many people like to attack this movie for being historically inaccurate. Particularly the portrayal of the British. To be more specific the character of "Tavington" who among other things burned down a church with people inside it.
The character of Tavington is based of a real British General named "Banastre Tarleton". While the real Tarleton never burned down any churches he may have executed many Americans at the Battle of Waxhaw Creek, which is still hotly debated to this day.
At any rate despite its flaws I enjoyed this movie.
